Kenilworth II — Thuya Burl
£60.00
There are pens, and then there are objects of desire. This is firmly in the second category.
The Lapworth II is already a pen with serious presence — larger, bolder, the kind of thing that commands a desk rather than just sitting on one. But this particular example takes things to another level entirely, pairing a deeply figured Amboyna Burl body with hand-engraved sterling silver panels and accents that are genuinely breathtaking up close.
The Amboyna itself is particularly striking here — rich amber and cognac tones shot through with dramatic darker swirls and that characteristic wild, almost tortoiseshell figuring that makes the timber so prized. No two pieces ever look alike, and this one has a real depth to it, almost glowing from within.
Then there's the silverwork. Intricate floral and foliate engravings wrap the sterling silver panels on both the cap and the lower barrel, framed by warm 14ct gold plated fittings that bring the whole thing together with unmistakable luxury. The cap carries an engraved silver panel running its length, with a detailed medallion finial on top. It's the kind of detail you'd expect from a piece three times the price.
This is a pen that belongs in a collection — or on the desk of someone who appreciates that the finest tools are also works of art.
Entirely handcrafted. Entirely unique.
