Kenilworth II — Horse Chestnut Burl
£60.00
If you've ever handled a piece of Thuya Burl and not immediately wanted to keep hold of it, you weren't paying attention.
This North African timber — harvested from the roots of ancient Atlas Cedar trees in the mountains of Morocco — is one of the most celebrated and sought-after turning woods in the world, and it's not hard to see why. The body of this Kenilworth II burns with that extraordinary warm amber-orange that Thuya does unlike anything else, shot through with rich cinnamon and deep russet tones, the tight swirling burl figuring dancing across the surface in every direction at once. And then there's the scent — even after finishing, Thuya holds onto a faint, resinous sweetness that's entirely its own. This is a timber with genuine personality.
The darker burl eyes scattered through the body add real depth and drama, and the surface has that characteristic almost glassy quality that takes a high polish beautifully. Paired here with cool gunmetal fittings — that deep, smoky chrome that sits somewhere between silver and steel — the contrast with the warm, fiery wood is sharp and tremendously effective. Clean, confident, and just a little bit special.
Thuya Burl of this quality doesn't hang around. It never does.
Handcrafted. Entirely unique. From the Atlas Mountains to your desk.
