Antique Gold — Kenilworth II Rollerball
£60.00
Some materials carry a story before you've even picked the pen up. This one carries rather a good one.
The resin used here is genuine Conway Stewart material — cast from original stock belonging to one of Britain's most storied pen makers, a company that has been producing fine writing instruments since 1905 and whose pens have graced the hands of royalty, writers and statesmen for generations. Getting to work with authentic Conway Stewart resin feels like a genuine act of custodianship; this isn't an imitation or a tribute, it's the real thing.
And what a material it is. Deep, jewel-like fragments of cobalt blue, crimson, rose pink and violet suspended in a dark base that gives the whole barrel a depth you could almost fall into. In different light it shifts dramatically — sometimes it reads almost purple, sometimes the blues dominate, sometimes those vivid red and pink splashes catch the eye first. It has the look of a night sky over open water, which is exactly where the name comes from.
Turned on the Stratford kit with 14ct gold plate hardware throughout, which complements the richness of the colours beautifully. This is a large, substantial pen with real presence in the hand — and that iridium point nib sitting on top means it's as serious about writing as it is about looking extraordinary.
Fitted with converter, ready to ink up.
Entirely handmade in the West Midlands using authentic Conway Stewart heritage resin stock. No two pieces are identical.
