Kenilworth II — Poplar, Maple Burl & Padauk | Segmented
£70.00
Some materials just have attitude, and Kirinite Red Devil has it in spades. That deep, almost volcanic crimson is shot through with sinuous black ribbons that twist and curl their way around the barrel like smoke — no two angles look quite the same, and under light it genuinely glows. It's dramatic without trying too hard, which is a tricky thing to pull off.
The Kenilworth II is a rollerball, and it suits this blank perfectly. The cap section carries the same fiery pattern right up to the chrome finial, and with the cap posted the pen sits beautifully balanced in the hand — substantial without being heavy. Bright chrome fittings keep things bold and clean, letting the material do exactly what it wants to do.
Kirinite is a premium cast acrylic that's tougher than it looks — it polishes to a glassy finish and keeps it. This one's been turned and finished by hand at the Covntree Turner workshop in the West Midlands, and it comes presented in a gift box, ready to write straight out of the box.
If you like your pens with a bit of fire in them, this is your one.
