Kenilworth II — Poplar, Maple Burl & Padauk | Segmented
£70.00
If you thought camouflage was supposed to help you blend in, Kirinite's Carnival Cammo clearly didn't get the memo. This is camouflage that absolutely refuses to hide — great sweeping waves of flame orange, forest green, deep crimson, purple and yellow all tumbling over each other in a pattern that shifts and changes with every rotation of the pen. It's loud, it's joyful, and it's completely impossible to ignore.
What's clever about this blank is that despite the chaos, it somehow works. The colours are warm and saturated rather than garish, and the way they flow into each other — the green bleeding into orange, the purple dissolving into red — gives it an almost organic feel, like the cross-section of some exotic tropical fruit. Hold it in different light and you'll find colours you hadn't noticed before.
Bright chrome fittings on the Kenilworth II are exactly the right call here — anything warmer and you'd be fighting the blank, whereas the cool silver lets all that colour take centre stage without apology.
Turned and finished by hand in the West Midlands, presented in a gift box, ready to write. This is a pen for people who like a bit of personality on their desk.
