Kenilworth II — Erinoid Valadinite

There's something almost vintage about the Valadinite blank — those chunky, irregular patches of warm cognac amber and deep black have the look of genuine tortoiseshell, the kind you'd find on a 1940s fountain pen tucked away in a leather writing case. It's not delicate or fussy, it's bold and unapologetically classic, with the black fragments sitting against the amber like islands in a honeyed sea.

Erinoid is one of Britain's great acrylic heritage brands, and Valadinite is exactly the sort of blank that reminds you why. Turned on the lathe, those colours shift and deepen depending on the light — catch it at the right angle and there's an almost three-dimensional quality to the pattern, like something trapped just below the surface.

Paired with warm gold fittings on the Kenilworth II, it's an absolutely natural match. The gold clip, centre band and finials give it a refined, almost Art Deco feel — this is a pen that wouldn't look out of place in a solicitor's office or on the desk of someone who takes their writing seriously.

Hand-turned and finished in the West Midlands, presented in a gift box and ready to write from day one.
