Thuya wood is sourced from North Africa, mainly the regions of the Atlas mountains. The hard heartwood varies in colour from a shiny golden brown to a dark tinge that is almost black at times. The grain areas, often known as the "eyes", are dense and burly, which gives wonderful figuring. Thuya burl has an aromatic and strong scent with an oily-like texture. This is an incredibly beautiful timber and therefore popular with designers and woodworkers who are drawn in by its unique wood pattern, making each pen truly special.
