Berkswell Ballpoint Pen — Surfite

Meet fordite's sun-drenched Californian cousin.

While fordite tells the story of Detroit's automobile industry, this stunning Berkswell ballpoint is turned from surfite — a material born on the floors of surfboard shaping bays, where waste resin builds up, hardens and eventually becomes something almost miraculous. Every colour a shaper ever sprayed is in there somewhere, compressed into vivid, translucent strata that look like nothing else on earth.

And this particular piece really delivers. Tight, horizontal bands of colour run the full length of the barrel in an almost dizzying spectrum — scarlet, lime green, sky blue, burnt orange, gold and more, all sandwiched together in razor-thin layers before opening up mid-barrel into a gorgeous cloudy pool of soft teal and sandy brown, like a wave caught in cross-section at the exact moment it breaks. It's joyful, vivid and completely, irreducibly unique.

Gold fittings throughout complement all that warmth beautifully, with a textured gold centre band and clean black upper and lower sections framing the surfite without competing with it.

Eco-friendly, upcycled, and genuinely one of a kind — no two pieces of surfite are ever the same, which means no two pens are either. Wear it on your desk like a badge of good taste.
